Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, DJ ExtraSpecial fell in love with music from day one. The love was passed on to him from his father, who was an avid record collector of all musical genres. Influenced by the sounds of High Life, the music of his parents native country Ghana, West Africa, the Motown Sound, Rock, Jazz, Funk, Reggae, R&B, and Soul at home, the sounds of Hip Hop music from the streets became the captivating force that led to his career as a DJ. Inspired by the legendary Jam Master Jay and local DJ’s in the parks and house parties, ExtraSpecial began to study and practice the 
craft of DJing at the age of eleven. From then on, he has created a style all his own with a focus on “party rockin”, keeping dance floors packed, bodies in motion and hands in the air.
With his passion for the art form, vast knowledge, and love for music, ExtraSpecial has creatively incorporated various genres into his repertoire, satisfying all tastes and styles while sticking to his roots as a Hip Hop DJ. DJ ExtraSpecial has spun in clubs and lounges allover New York City including Sutra, Sip, Hell Gate Social, Bar 13 and countless private events throughout the years.
